Training Tip Thursday

"Practice makes perfect. Practice not only running, but everything else related to race day. That includes equipment. Do you know what shoes you'll wear on race day? Buy a new pair now! How about shorts and singlet? Test your clothing in training to make sure nothing chafes or causes a blister. Do you expect hot or cold weather race day? Weather can be unpredictable. Will you be prepared if the temperature suddenly drops (or rises) 30 degrees on race day? Consider every scenario you might encounter."

From Hal Higdon's Marathon Training Guide, Intermediate 2 Program, Week 10.

I like this tip Vern.I have my runners already, they are the ones I always wear and know they feel good. I have practised putting on my gear in the correct order for the transition and timed myself too. I took my bike to get serviced so it has the all clear for race day. I think it is very important to have every scenario accounted for.

As usual, it sounds like you are on top of all of the details, Barb!

I need to pick up a new pair of shoes before my marathon, and do it soon, so I have time to break them in! I think I've accounted for everything else.

Good luck on your triathlon!
